The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will be holding their “Building Strong Kids Annual Support Campaign” during May, 2007. YMCA volunteers have accepted the challenge to raise $40,000 to help the YMCA to continue to provide quality programs to families, send kids to camp and to make sure kids have a safe and nurturing place to grow. Board president Beth Shea explains the need. “The YMCA is the hub for teens and youth in this community. We serve over 3000 children under the age of 18 and are always striving to expand our services to them. Last year our YMCA provided more than $70,000 in aid to deserving youth and their families in this community. We ask that you be generous when a YMCA volunteer contacts you.” Jim Lawler, executive director of the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, adds, “Demand for scholarship services grows every year. In order to keep pace we need to reach out to our community and ask for their support. Their generosity will allow more children to continue to participate in the YMCA programs and membership activities and help us to meet our mission.” Lawler explains how the funds that are raised will be allocated. “A successful campaign will allow 15 kids to spend a week at summer camp, 20 kids to become members of the YMCA, 40 kids to attend before and after school care, 40 kids to attend all day childcare and 20 teens to have a fitness membership.” The YMCA is aware that many of the families and youth who need YMCA programs cannot afford to pay the fees. Financial assistance provided through the “Building Strong Kids Annual Support Campaign” will make it possible for more community members to gain the benefit of participation in YMCA programs. | The YMCA of Auburn Lewiston, a non profit community servicing organization for more than 80 years, is looking for your support toward the many YMCA Youth programs. Your tax-deductible contribution may sponsor a child to attend summer day camp, provide swimming instruction to a youngster, or support confidence-building teen activities. With your annual support, the YMCA will continue to build strong kids, strong families, strong communities. Once a year we will contact all our members and specific community members outside the YMCA family to ask for some annual support. Annual support can be of any amount! |
| The YMCA's endowment fund is the foundation necessary for meeting the goals of the YMCA. Through prudent investing coupled with generous donors the endowment fund stabilizes our local Auburn-Lewiston YMCA. Today there are many financial programs that assist gift-givers in this critical area. We would enjoy discussing these with any potential endowment fund gift-givers. |
| The YMCA's endowment fund is also funded with special gifts. These can be gifts of real estate, certificates, equities or cash. Gifts can be set up in a number of ways to transfer ownership to the YMCA and still give the benefactor some tax advantages while they are still living. |
