Camp Connor Philosophy
Since the inception of Camp Connor, it has been our philosophy that campers come to camp for a variety of reasons and it is the camp's responsibility to become something more than just a daytime babysitting organization. The essence of the program is the establishment of a close relationship between a counselor and group of campers. We will do our best to know each camper, his/her strenghts and weaknesses, and their special needs in emotional and physical areas. Camp Connor desires to improve the campers' self-image and promote confidence through new, fun, and positive camp experiences in every phase of the camp program.
We place a lot of value in developing skills in the camper. Since we hope to instill confidence by promoting competence, we want our campers to acquire as much skill in a variety of activities as possible during their time at camp. For this reason, a great deal of emphasis will be placed on instruction and participation in the various camp activities.
All YMCA programming is developed around the YMCA's Core Values: Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect. We want all our campers to grow, learn, experience, make new friends, and most of all, Have Fun!
